Dear Parents and Community Members:

Urgent! The Scotts Valley Unified School District needs your help.  Libraries and Intervention Counseling Services at all four schools are not fully funded for the coming school year. These are critical resources for our children.

Every year, the School District asks SVEF to fund some of the most critical needs for our schools that are not funded by the State. In the last three years, that has meant over $400,000 in requests from the District that SVEF has fulfilled. However, this year SVEF needs your help. The District has requested nearly $100,000 in support and we are approximately $20,000 short. We need to raise these funds before the start of the new school year.

Libraries are a critical part of your child’s education, but the librarians in schools are not part of the funding in our district. Furthermore, intervention counselors help your child by assisting students whose personal issues are affecting their classroom performance. Intervention counselors are able to work with children outside of class, to assist with personal issues, so teachers can teach and students can focus on learning. We need your help to keep these critical services in place!

Please make a donation to keep our libraries open and intervention counseling available. SVEF is an all volunteer, non-profit organization, so your donation is tax deductible and all the money raised goes directly where it should–back to our local schools to benefit our children.

Thank you for helping to support our schools!

Community Partnership Program

The SVEF has launched our Community Partnership Program.  We want to take this opportunity to thank those business who are listed on our home page and our Community Partnership Program page, for their generous giving to SVEF this year.
A partnership between your business and the SVEF has the potential to bring a direct benefit to you, and preserve and enhance the education of each student in the Scotts Valley School District.  Many of the families who live and work in our community support our community businesses, and the Community Partnership Program now provides our local business’s the opportunity of giving back and help fund necessary educational services which have been eliminated from the schools due to budget cuts.
Why consider the Scotts Valley Education Foundation for annual giving?  Well, it’s very simple.  The SVEF is the only organization that gives to all the schools in the district.  The donations by our community partners are integral for all 4 schools Libraries to remain open and for our kids to receive needed coaching services in Literacy and Math.
What do we fund?  Once again for the 2013-2014 school year our schools will have Librarians and Counseling Services. The cost for these two programs exceeds $100,000.  It is important that we always keep the future in mind and proactively seek opportunities that will allow us to continue funding these important aspects of our children’s education in future years.
As a business owner in our community, if you believe that with a quality education, our kids will be able to get good jobs enabling them to continue to live in our community and, as they become young adults and start their own families, they will continue to patronize your local businesses, then we need you as a Community Partner!
Please help us bridge the gap in state funding necessary to sustain academic programs, student support services and enrichment programs. Becoming a Community Partner is easy.  Below are the various contribution level’s available.  Please know that your generosity in any amount is very much appreciated.  We are honored by your support and Thank You.  Just click on the DONATE button to make your annual contribution today.

Announcing: Lynne Beebe College Counseling Grant

The Scotts Valley Educational Foundation is honored to announced the Lynn Beebe College Counseling Grant, providing selected Scotts Valley High School students with financial assistance to obtain professional counseling and guidance as they plan for acceptance into college.

Lynn was a long-time and much loved SVUSD staff member. Her years of service to the students here included teaching, counseling, athletic coaching as well as athletic director. In her latter years she embarked on a new career as an independent, private college counselor. After her death in early 2012, SVEF collected donations in her honor and worked with her parents Jack and Jan Beebe to establish the grant and place it into an endowment fund. Lynn took great pride in connecting with students and helping them navigate the path to a successful future, and the endowment will ensure the grant’s perpetuity, keeping alive Lynn’s passion and dedication to students.

Applications for the Lynn Beebe College Counseling Grant will be available to SVHS students starting in March 2013, with the first recipients announced in May.  Continued donations will enable an increased number of SVHS students to be served.
