Dear Scotts Valley Schools Supporter:

As the beginning of the school year approaches, we believe we have much to be thankful for here in Scotts Valley. In spite of continued budget reductions, our students are thriving, as evidenced by the amazing test scores we saw this spring. With generous donations from our community and through our various fundraisers, the Scotts Valley Educational Foundation has been able to give back over $280,000 to our schools the past 2 years! Our Endowment Fund has grown to more than XXXXXXX, and we continue to make annual contributions so that it will continue to grow. To help us continue to raise enough money to fund these very critical needs and programs, we need your ongoing support.

During 2012-2013, SVEF donated over $183,000 to support crucial programs and services:

·         $44,000 to provide counseling services at all four schools

·         $55,000 kept the libraries open at each school

·         $30,000 to support technology needs on each campus

·         $21,000 built an adaptive playground for our pre-K students

·         $32,000 funded a part-time GLAD coach to train ALL our teachers

For the upcoming school year 2013-2014 we are donating over $100,000 to support crucial programs and services: allowing the libraries at each school to remain open and continue our Counseling services for Math and Literacy.

Please consider making your tax-deductible donation today. We also need volunteers to help support our various fundraisers, The Christmas Tree Lot, Community Partners Program and Mountain Charlie Challenge.

And last but not least, if you would be interested in learning more about Board positions, volunteering a short portion of your time on special projects or if you’d like to support our great events – The Christmas Tree Lot, Community Partner Program or the Mountain Charlie Challenge. Community Partnership Program

The SVEF has launched our Community Partnership Program.  We want to take this opportunity to thank those business who are listed on our home page and our Community Partnership Program page, for their generous giving to SVEF this year.
A partnership between your business and the SVEF has the potential to bring a direct benefit to you, and preserve and enhance the education of each student in the Scotts Valley School District.  Many of the families who live and work in our community support our community businesses, and the Community Partnership Program now provides our local business’s the opportunity of giving back and help fund necessary educational services which have been eliminated from the schools due to budget cuts.
Why consider the Scotts Valley Education Foundation for annual giving?  Well, it’s very simple.  The SVEF is the only organization that gives to all the schools in the district.  The donations by our community partners are integral for all 4 schools Libraries to remain open and for our kids to receive needed coaching services in Literacy and Math.
What do we fund?  Once again for the 2013-2014 school year our schools will have Librarians and Counseling Services. The cost for these two programs exceeds $100,000.  It is important that we always keep the future in mind and proactively seek opportunities that will allow us to continue funding these important aspects of our children’s education in future years.
As a business owner in our community, if you believe that with a quality education, our kids will be able to get good jobs enabling them to continue to live in our community and, as they become young adults and start their own families, they will continue to patronize your local businesses, then we need you as a Community Partner!
Please help us bridge the gap in state funding necessary to sustain academic programs, student support services and enrichment programs. Becoming a Community Partner is easy.  Below are the various contribution level’s available.  Please know that your generosity in any amount is very much appreciated.  We are honored by your support and Thank You.  Just click on the DONATE button to make your annual contribution today.

Announcing: Lynne Beebe College Counseling Grant

The Scotts Valley Educational Foundation is honored to announced the Lynn Beebe College Counseling Grant, providing selected Scotts Valley High School students with financial assistance to obtain professional counseling and guidance as they plan for acceptance into college.

Lynn was a long-time and much loved SVUSD staff member. Her years of service to the students here included teaching, counseling, athletic coaching as well as athletic director. In her latter years she embarked on a new career as an independent, private college counselor. After her death in early 2012, SVEF collected donations in her honor and worked with her parents Jack and Jan Beebe to establish the grant and place it into an endowment fund. Lynn took great pride in connecting with students and helping them navigate the path to a successful future, and the endowment will ensure the grant’s perpetuity, keeping alive Lynn’s passion and dedication to students.

Applications for the Lynn Beebe College Counseling Grant will be available to SVHS students starting in March 2013, with the first recipients announced in May.  Continued donations will enable an increased number of SVHS students to be served.
