Dear Parents and Community Members:
Urgent! The Scotts Valley Unified School District needs your help. Libraries and Intervention Counseling Services at all four schools are not fully funded for the coming school year. These are critical resources for our children.
Every year, the School District asks SVEF to fund some of the most critical needs for our schools that are not funded by the State. In the last three years, that has meant over $400,000 in requests from the District that SVEF has fulfilled. However, this year SVEF needs your help. The District has requested nearly $100,000 in support and we are approximately $20,000 short. We need to raise these funds before the start of the new school year.
Libraries are a critical part of your child’s education, but the librarians in schools are not part of the funding in our district. Furthermore, intervention counselors help your child by assisting students whose personal issues are affecting their classroom performance. Intervention counselors are able to work with children outside of class, to assist with personal issues, so teachers can teach and students can focus on learning. We need your help to keep these critical services in place!
Please make a donation to keep our libraries open and intervention counseling available. SVEF is an all volunteer, non-profit organization, so your donation is tax deductible and all the money raised goes directly where it should–back to our local schools to benefit our children.
Thank you for helping to support our schools!

The Scotts Valley Educational Foundation is honored to announced the Lynn Beebe College Counseling Grant, providing selected Scotts Valley High School students with financial assistance to obtain professional counseling and guidance as they plan for acceptance into college.
Lynn was a long-time and much loved SVUSD staff member. Her years of service to the students here included teaching, counseling, athletic coaching as well as athletic director. In her latter years she embarked on a new career as an independent, private college counselor. After her death in early 2012, SVEF collected donations in her honor and worked with her parents Jack and Jan Beebe to establish the grant and place it into an endowment fund. Lynn took great pride in connecting with students and helping them navigate the path to a successful future, and the endowment will ensure the grant’s perpetuity, keeping alive Lynn’s passion and dedication to students.
Applications for the Lynn Beebe College Counseling Grant will be available to SVHS students starting in March 2013, with the first recipients announced in May. Continued donations will enable an increased number of SVHS students to be served.
Now you can donate your stock to SVEF as well. Simply print and complete the stock form and send it to your broker.
