Cyclesport will be available for last minute maintenance help, if need be.

Course Notice
We wanted to make sure all of you riders that are going up Mt. Charlie for the 100k route are aware that the road is quite rough once you are on Highland Way and Eureka Canyon.

Due to prior mudslides the road is closed to car traffic, which makes it nice for bicycles (no traffic), but the road is a rough surface. Please be aware when going in and out of sunlight that you watch the holes and bumps.

We had our group ride go out that way last weekend and they said it was no problem and beautiful. Since it is closed to car traffic, we will have SAG vehicles on both sides of the barricades.

Course Map
You can view the course map ahead of time at our Mt. Charlie page on our website.

Pledges

Please bring your pledges with you to check-in. If you were unable to raise pledges, please plan on giving the $55. donation in lieu of pledges.

Mt. Charlie Group Ride 4/20

Sunday April 20th we will have multiple ride options for you to choose from, for conditioning this weekend. You choose what sounds best to you. All riders will meet at Skypark’s parking lot Sunday, April 20th at 9am. The riders will branch off to the different levels they would like to do.

Mt. Charlie Group Ride Sunday 4/13/08 9am

Sunday we will be holding two conditioning rides starting at 9:00am from the Skypark parking lot (directions below). Hopefully some of you who haven’t been able to make Saturday’s ride can come this week.

David will be leading a more advanced ride that will head up to the summit, for a long and mountainous ride. We’ll wait for people to catch up at the tops, but you will need to be ready for a hard effort.

The shorter ride will be lead out by Monique and the proposed route is about 20 miles, which would go up Bean Creek, to Glenwood then Granite Creek and Glen Canyon to the north side of Scotts Valley and on to Skypark. She is flexible on the route.

Biking event to raise school funds

The Santa Cruz Sentinel has been spreading the word about our upcoming SVEF Mt. Charlie Challenge Ride for the past two weeks. Here’s what they are saying:

The Scotts Valley Educational Foundation Mountain Charlie Challenge will kick off at 8 a.m. April 26 to raise money for Scotts Valley schools.

The program has raised more than $100,000 for school programs since it began five years ago. Riders may bike 50K or 100K distances starting at Skypark in Scotts Valley .

There will be a family lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with live music and dancing. Money can be raised through corporate sponsorships and raffle ticket sales, but riders are also asked to raise $500 individually.
